If you’re looking for a ride that’s got a little bit of everything, the Rock Island Trail in Kansas City is where it’s at! We kicked off the day at GEHA Stadium, of course posing our bikes next to the Lamar Hunt statue because… why not? 🚴♀️ Nothing like starting your ride with a little Chiefs magic. (Go Chiefs!)

But let me tell you, we were not ready for the hills of Raytown. What’s with all the climbs? I thought this was supposed to be a chill ride! Okay, maybe we added a bit of flair for the dramatic—the map below shows an elevation gain of only 877 ft—but it felt like a lot more! Thankfully, once we hit the gravel on the actual Rock Island Trail, things started to level off and our legs got a break. The smooth gravel was just what we needed, and the scenery? Gorgeous.
Then, the highlight: riding through the Vale Tunnel. Slightly spooky, super cool, and it made us feel like we were in some kind of adventure movie. I kept waiting for a bat to fly out. (Spoiler: no bats, but plenty of excitement!)

The real treat came at the end of the ride: Crane Brewing. Let’s just say the reward was worth every pedal stroke. Beer? Yes, please. But the pineapple martini? Absolute game-changer. 🍍🍸 We also devoured some hummus and a Caprese grilled cheese—because after all that riding, we earned it!

This ride had it all—hills, trails, tunnels, and martinis. What more could you ask for? If you haven’t done the Rock Island Trail yet, make sure you do. And don’t forget to stop at Crane Brewing… because what’s a ride without a delicious finish?
